  • Support kitchen operations Monday through Wednesday (on-site cooking days in our shared commercial kitchen in Kanata)

  • Take lead on kitchen prep and organization, working under the guidance of the Executive Chef.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years professional culinary experience (Sous Chef or equivalent preferred)

  • Experience with whole food, healthy cooking (as long as you can cook, I can teach you the “healthy” part)

  • Solid leadership or team management skills

  • Patient, kind, sense of humour, strong focus, clear thinking and extremely detailed oriented. (If you are impatient or unkind and generally don’t like people, this is not the job for you).

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills are a MUST

  • Ability to stand on your feet for 8 hours and lift up to 25 lbs

  • A laptop and cellphone and have some working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and be comfortable with learning to our tech tools/apps. The flow of your position is based on the use of technology both in and out of the kitchen.

  • Must have reliable transportation and fluent English (spoken and written)

What We Offer:

  • Pay is minimum $25/hour.

  • Consistent Monday–Thursday schedule, daytimes only (8am-4pm Mon-Wed with some variance on the finishing time, as you may be done a bit earlier depending on the amount of clients). Thursday work can be done remotely anytime Thursday or Friday, based on what is convenient for you. Average 28 hours per week.

  • A supportive team that values creativity, patience, a sense of humour and singing along to good music while we work (sorry in advance)!

  • We close down over Christmas holidays to reset and enjoy some family time and often close down for 1 week in the summer. You can also take vacation of course.

  • We work in a shared commercial kitchen in Kanata.

Positions we hire for:

  • Chef/Sous chef: Monday to Wednesday 8-3:30pm or occasional, as needed

  • Grocery Shopper: (Sunday mornings, 3 hours a week)

  • Admin assisstant

Please connect with me if you would be interested in joining our team now or in the future. Even if we are not hiring right at this moment, this is the right time to reach out.

We are a small core team of 3-4 chefs who cook Monday to Wednesday. We love to listen to all sorts of great music. We love to chat but we also love to just get immersed in our cooking. This position requires very clear thinking and organizational skills as we create custom meals for our clients, which means accommodating each of their preferences. This position requires a lot of thinking. Having knowledge of working with computers/microsoft word is also a huge asset as there are “work from home” hours available pertaining to the planning of the coming weeks, when we are not in the kitchen.

I love to have someone to call for an extra set of hands when needed and have a history of hiring our core team from chefs and kitchen assistants with whom I have already established a relationship. Sometimes we meet when they come and help out in the kitchen but often it is because someone has expressed interest in the months before I am looking to hire and after a chat, they have stayed top of mind until a position opens. So don’t be shy! Send me an email with your resume. I would love to meet you.
